When Tupac Shakur talked about a rose that grew in cracked concrete he described Basheer Jones‟s struggle and victory. Basheer represents his community, alma mater, and his generation well. As a Morehouse man Basheer stands in the company of Martin Luther King, Jr., Howard Thurman, Maynard Jackson, Julian Bond, Walter Massey and many, many more. We are proud to call him our brother and fellow alumnus. Basheer Jones is already a leader, model, and standard bearer and torchbearer. Keep up the good work Basheer and keep marching on the highway of excellence.
Basheer Jones is the voice for today and yesterday. This young man can reach the masses both young and old. He seems to have an insight that reveals the heart of the community and with that insight he is gifted with a poetic voice as well to deliver the message. Basheer Jones is a son for which community mothers like me can be proud.
Basheer is everything you look for in a community leader: smart, energetic, ambitious, visionary and committed. I admire his wisdom and his „straight talk‟ about what's needed to move our community forward. Cleveland is lucky and fortunate to have him…
